Greetings! My name is Amanda Foss. I am so grateful to work with the English learners in Etowah County. I currently work as the ESL teacher for the following schools:
John S. Jones Elementary Ivalee Elementary Glencoe Middle School Highland School Gaston School West End High School
I am originally from Daytona Beach, Florida, and moved to Alabama several years ago. I attained my B.S. in Elementary Education with TESOL Endorsement from the University of Central Florida in 2009. I also have an MAEd and Ed.S, both in Teaching English as a Second Language from UAB. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher, specializing in English as a new language for early/middle childhood through young adulthood.
Since my first internship placement during my undergrad, I have always had a place in my heart for English learners and their unique abilities and needs. My goal as their teacher is to ensure their school experience is both positive and comfortable, where they thrive socially and linguistically. English learners are truly an asset to our school system, and I am so fortunate to work with these wonderful students!
